Welcome to Hammond, New York!
Hammond is in St. Lawrence County and has long been a North Country community with deep roots and traditions, blessed to be situated between two special bodies of water. On the north is the mighty St. Lawrence River where one can marvel at ships from all over the world traveling the St. Lawrence Seaway past the many islands, marinas, beautiful homes and even castles dotting the Thousand Islands region of the river. On the south is Black Lake, a freshwater fisherman’s paradise and often called “Nature’s Fish Hatchery” as the largest and most diverse of the many Indian River lakes.
And in between are acres and acres of rolling farmland, with the Village of Hammond located along Rt. 37 (Main Street). Hammond is proud of its agricultural and small business heritage, and invites you to come “Explore Our Shores”, and our barn quilt trail — the FIRST ever in Upstate New York and St. Lawrence County.
Hammond is a mere 15 minutes from Alexandria Bay; 20 minutes from Ogdensburg; 30 minutes from the Canadian Border; 30 minutes from Clayton; 40 minutes from Canton and Fort Drum; 45 minutes from Watertown; and 1- hour from Massena and Potsdam.
